What Nuclio does for your store
Nuclio tracks the sales that the publishers and creators you work with send to your store. When a shopper arrives through a publisher's Nuclio link and buys, Nuclio matches the paid order to that link. It checks the order against the rules you set and records the commission you agreed with that publisher.
Every credited sale appears in your Nuclio console, with how each of your rules applied to it.
Install and connect
- Find Nuclio in the Shopify App Store and choose Install.
- Shopify shows the access Nuclio needs: reading your orders and products. Approve it to install the app.
- Sign in to Nuclio, or create your account and brand workspace if you are new. You never need to type your store address.
- Approve connecting your store to your brand. Your Nuclio console opens with your store connected.
- Switch on the Nuclio app embed, as described below.
After that, opening Nuclio from Apps in your Shopify admin takes you straight to your console. Already using the Nuclio console? You can start there instead: open your setup checklist and choose Connect your store.
Switch on the Nuclio app embed
The app embed keeps the Nuclio link with the shopper's cart, so the order can be matched at checkout. It shows nothing to your shoppers and does not change your theme's code.
- In your Nuclio console, open the setup checklist and go to Keep the click at checkout.
- Choose Open app embeds. Your theme editor opens with the Nuclio embed already switched on.
- Press Save.
To do it by hand, go to Online Store, Themes, Customize, then App embeds in your Shopify admin. Switch on Nuclio and press Save.
What store data Nuclio reads
Nuclio asks Shopify for a fixed list of order fields. Shopify removes everything else before it sends an order. Orders that did not come through a Nuclio link are dropped when they arrive and never stored.
From each order
- Nuclio's own link reference, which the app embed adds to the cart. Other cart attributes arrive with it and are discarded.

The id, title and handle of your products and collections, and which products are in which collections. You use them to choose products that earn no commission.
Nuclio never requests shopper names, email addresses, phone numbers or postal addresses, and it does not ask Shopify for customer records.

When a sale counts
- Paid orders. A sale counts once Shopify marks the order as paid. Pending, authorised and partly paid orders wait until the payment lands.
- Refunds. When a refund on a credited order goes through, the commission is reduced to match, including partial refunds.
- Test orders. Orders placed in test mode, for example with Shopify's Bogus Gateway, are recorded as test sales and earn no commission.
The rules you set
You decide which sales earn commission. In your Nuclio console you can set:
- the countries that earn, using each order's shipping country, or its billing country when there is no shipping address
- a minimum order value
- whether orders that used a discount code still earn
- products and collections that earn no commission
- an approval step, so large commissions wait for you before they confirm
Each publisher's rate is agreed between you and that publisher, within your rules. Every rule change is kept in your rule history.
Pricing
Nuclio is free to install. When a publisher you work with earns commission on a sale Nuclio credited to them, Nuclio invoices you for that commission as you agreed it with the publisher, and pays it on to them.
Your shoppers' privacy choices
The app embed follows the choices shoppers make in your store's cookie banner, through Shopify's customer privacy settings. Shopify treats sales attribution as marketing. Where a shopper needs to agree to marketing first, Nuclio stores nothing in their browser and adds nothing to their cart until they agree.
If they agree while still on the page they arrived on, the link is kept from then on. If they decline, Nuclio removes what it stored and takes its reference off the cart. Where your store asks for no consent, the embed works straight away.
Uninstall
In your Shopify admin, go to Settings, then Apps, find Nuclio and choose Uninstall. Tracking stops straight away.
- Shopify takes the Nuclio app embed out of your theme.
- Nuclio deletes its access to your store and stops accepting orders from it.
- 48 hours later Shopify asks Nuclio to erase your store's data. Nuclio removes anything left of the store connection.
Sales Nuclio has already credited stay on record, because invoices and payouts depend on them. Their order details are cleared on the schedule in our privacy notice. Your rules and product list stay with your Nuclio account, so you can reconnect later. To close your Nuclio account, email us.
UK stores selling in pounds
Nuclio is built for UK stores that sell in pounds sterling (GBP). Orders in other currencies are not credited. The app embed needs the Online Store sales channel.
